Farm automation is recognized as a broad driver of agricultural productivity, as the automated processes make the agriculture more effective, and also meets the rising requirements of a lower consumption of energy, water and pesticides. Robots are the enabler of precision agriculture, for the crop treatments on a plant-by-plant basis, for example applying fertilizer just on those crops that need it.
From the dairy farming to the agricultural inspections, from the material handling to the harvesting, Robot technology has shown to be of great effect.
Drone technology is poised to play a crucial role in the future of agriculture. Farmers are turning to this low-cost, easy-to-use solution for gathering important data, instead of gathering imagery by satellites or manned aircraft; both of which can be prohibitively expensive for small farmers.
Moreover, it is expected to see driverless tractors and fruit-picking robots become relatively commonplace on larger farms. The track will focus on the real end-user needs, providing case histories and technology trends discussion.
